Epoch's AI tools use the knowledge of large language models to help speed up your work.

Epoch uses OpenAI to power its AI features, like generating event descriptions and summarizing top insights from feedback responses.

Create event descriptions

Using AI for event descriptions can save you time when brainstorming, writing, and refining descriptions that are engaging, on-brand, and informative. Epoch guides you through a few inputs to make sure that the output is as useful as possible.

  1. Create or edit an event.
  2. Cilck Generate with AI under the description.
  3. Choose the type of event.
  4. Choose the tone.
  5. Choose the length.
  6. Tell us anything else that would make the description more tailored to your liking, like including an agenda or FAQs section.
  7. After the description is generated, choose to Add description to the field or go Back if you'd like to adjust the inputs.
  8. If you'd like to adjust the description further after adding it, click Edit description.
  9. Choose from our suggested adjustments or tell us how you'd like it to be edited.
  10. Click Generate to get an updated description or click Restart if you'd like to go through steps 3 to 6 again.
  11. Choose if you'd like to Replace description or Add below the current description if you'd like to keep both outputs.

Summarize feedback responses

Getting feedback on your event can be some of the most valuable input for improving future events for your employees. However, you can be left with a load of open answer responses that can take a lot of time to sift through and categorize into themes. AI can speed up this process by going through the feedback for you and giving you actionable insights for next steps.

Note that if there are more than 100 responses, Epoch will randomly select 100 responses to send to OpenAI for analysis. This is to ensure we can return insights within a reasonable time. You can always try again with a different set of 100 responses if you're expecting different insights.

  1. Go to the Event insights page for an event with responses to a long answer question.
  2. Navigate to the question under the Feedback form section.
  3. Click Generate insights.
  4. After the insights are generated, choose to Save if you'd like the insights added to the insights page or Try again if you'd to get a different set of insights.
  5. Once saved, the top 3 insights will appear at the top of the responses.
  6. If you'd like to generate insights again, click on the menu icon and cilck Try again.
  7. If you'd like to remove the insights, click on the menu icon and click Delete.

Note that the insights will also appear in the CSV as "Top 3 insights" under first_name.

If you're sharing these insights with others, we recommend disclosing that they were generated by AI.

AI considerations and best practices

Accuracy of information

AI-powered tools are designed to provide information and results based on artificial intelligence algorithms and data collected from around the internet. It’s important to note that the accuracy and reliability of these results may vary.

There is a possibility of inaccuracies, omissions, or misleading outcomes due to the complexities and limitations of AI technologies. You should exercise your own judgment and discretion when using AI-powered tools. It’s important to verify and cross-check the information provided by our tools before making any decisions, taking actions, or relying on it for critical matters.

By using AI features in Epoch, you agree to follow OpenAI’s usage policies.

Data usage

Note that data inputted into our AI features is sent to OpenAI for processing and generating AI output. Data is temporarily retained in OpenAI’s environment to provide the services, but it will not be used for model training.

Here’s an example of how the features work at a high level:

  1. You choose to generate insights for a long answer question.
  2. The anonymized responses are sent to the OpenAI API along with some context about the action we want to achieve, like asking for a summary of the responses.
  3. OpenAI returns a text output that attempts to match whatever instructions or context are included with the original input.
  4. The output is shown in Epoch for your usage.

Visit the OpenAI Security Portal to learn more about data retention and security practices.
