How to add the Slackbot to a private channel

Any Slack Channel which the Epoch Slackbot has been added to will be available within Epoch for Admins to select when creating Slack Announcements or configuring event Registration Settings.

By default:

  • Epoch will have access to all public and private channels which Epoch has created. These channels will be available for admins to select in Epoch.
  • The Epoch Slackbot will not have access to private channels which were not created by Epoch. These Private Channels will not be available to select in Epoch until the Epoch Slackbot has been added to them.

There are two ways you can grant the Epoch Slackbot access to a channel:

Option 1:

  1. Go into the private Slack channel that you want to add the Epoch Slackbot to.
  2. Click the channel name and navigate to the Integrations tab.
  3. Click the button "Add an App", find the Epoch app and then click "Add".

Option 2:
  1. Go into the private Slack channel that you want to add the Epoch Slackbot to.
  2. Type and enter '@Epoch' in the channel's chat and press enter.
  3. When prompted by Slackbot message in the Private Channel's chat, click the 'Invite Them' button
