In order to activate the waitlist for your event, set a maximum capcity for your single event or for an individual session of your multi-session event. Once there is a capacity set, the waitlist will be activated for your event.
When an event is full, employees will see that there are 0 spots left and a Join waitlist button on the event page. This button also appears in Slack event messages and the calendar description will update to indicate that the event is full.
Clicking Join waitlist on the event page or Slack, or Yes on calendar, will add employees to the waitlist.
If a confirmed guest cancels their spot or the event capacity is increased, waitlisted guests will be automatically be added to the event on a first-come, first-serve basis.
They will receive a calendar invitation with a "Yes" status, as well as Slack and email notifications to let them know they're now confirmed for the event.
Currently, there isn't a way to add +1 guests on Epoch. This means the waitlist will not account for +1 guests.
The best way to keep track of +1s is to create a questionnaire to ask guests how many +1s they are planning to bring. See responses on the insights page or CSV to add up the number of confirmed guests and their +1s to get a total guest count.
Currently, Epoch does not support disabling the waitlist entirely. However, you can achieve the desired behaviour by using Registration Cutoff:
Optional tip: If your event uses questionnaires for things like food orders, you can also set a questionnaire cutoff to prevent updates after a certain time.
