What are the different image ratios?

There are 3 different placements across Epoch for the cover photo. They each have their own dimension ratios:

Cover

The cover photo appears on the event page, where employees can read about event information and RSVP to the event. The ratio is 5:2 (1000 x 372).

Thumbnail

The thumbnail photo appears on the Discover page, where employees will land when they log in to browse events. The ratio is 8:7.

Slack

The Slack photo appears for Slack messages, like reminders and promotions. The ratio is 1:1.

How should I format the photo?

Epoch recommends photos that only include imagery. Imagery is more flexible for cropping across all placements.

We don't recommend text-based cover photos, since they become less readable in the thumbnail and Slack placements. If you must use text, the best dimensions for the event cover photo is a square (at least 1000px by 1000px) so it's optimized for all placements. Keep the graphics and words contained in the center third of the square (see image below) to ensure nothing gets cut off.
